Những loại chè phổ biến ở Việt Nam được gọi bằng tiếng Anh như sau:
- Chè hạt sen – Sweet lotus seed gruel
- Chè trôi nước – Rice Ball Sweet Soup
- Chè sắn – Cassava Gruel
- Chè đậu trắng với nước cốt dừa – White cow-pea with coconut gruel
- Chè đậu xanh – Green beans sweet gruel
- Chè đậu đen – Black beans sweet gruel
- Chè đậu đỏ – Red beans sweet gruel
- Chè khoai môn với nước dừa – Sweet Taro Pudding with coconut gruel
- Chè chuối – Sweet banana with coconut gruel

- Chè ong – made form a rice, ginger root and honey and molasses– this is a northern dish, usually cooked to offer to the ancestors at Tết.
- Chè hạt đậu đen – made from the black beans; one of the most popular varieties of chè, particularly for northern Vietnamese.
- Chè đậu phụng (also called chè đậu phộng in southern Vietnam, or chè lạc in northern Vietnam) – made from peanuts
- Chè đậu ván Huế – made from Dolichos lablab (hyacinth beans) a specialty in Huế
- Chè đậu đỏ – made from azuki beans, usually using whole beans, rarely using ground beans.
- Chè đậu huyết – made from red beans.
- Chè đậu trắng – made from black-eyed peas. In this dessert is just to referred to as chè đậu as it is one of the most common bean dessert for southern Vietnamese.
- Chè đậu xanh – made from whole mung beans
- Chè đậu xanh đánh – made from ground mung beans
